(10 Dec 2009)
Every year we go out and spend lots of money on presents for our nearest & dearest for Christmas, but due to the recent high numbers of unemployment and flooding, there are lots of families with no money and no homes this christmas. This year we have decided to get involved with St. Vincent de Paul's "The Giving Tree", which gives us a chance to brighten up someones Christmas. Tags can be got from our tree and everyone can pick their own.
The Society of St Vincent de Paul provides help for over 20,000 families at Christmas. This help includes toys for children, gifts for adults, the elderly and hampers for families. By getting your company to participate in the Giving Tree Campaign you can help us provide a gift for someone in need this Christmas.
Our Giving Tree campaign is quite simple: we provide your company with tags for the ‘Giving Tree’, which can be distributed or hung on a Christmas tree in your office or organisation. Each tag lists a type of person and age group e.g. ‘Girl 4-9’ or ‘Adult Male’. Take a tag from the tree, buy a suitable gift and place it unwrapped at the designated collection point.
Requirements
- Gifts must be unwrapped for health and safety reasons
- We would ask that all toys/gifts are new – no second hand toys please.
- Minimum gift value €10
We know the number and type of people we need to try and help in your local area. The Giving Tree is a perfect way to match your gifts to these people. We distribute all gifts in time for Christmas.

When your company has completed its collection the gifts will be collected by the relevant conference or contact person.
We rely on the generosity of companies and individuals to help us to help others who are less well off. Your generosity will help many underprivileged families.
Thank you for your support of the work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
